Enrichment

What is it?

It is the practice of providing a variety of stimuli to the animal’s environment to increase opportunities for natural behaviors, choices, and increase welfare.

An enrichment can fall into several categories (Ex: a live bug can be both dietary and sensory enrichment). The internet and your local zoos are great places to get enrichment ideas.

 

Each species is different, so research their natural behaviors first to learn what kinds of enrichment will work! Enrichment should ALWAYS be safe for the animal.
